National Open Access Strategy

By 2024, all publications financed in Switzerland using public funds will have to be accessible to everyone free of charge. At its general meeting of 31 January 2017, swissuniversities approved the National Open Access Strategy, which was subsequently endorsed by the Swiss University Conference (SHK).

At its plenary meeting on 8 February 2018, swissuniversities approved an action plan to implement the national strategy, which was subsequently endorsed by the governing board of the Swiss University Conference (SHK) on 23 February 2018.

Open Access Monitoring Report

The SNSF carried out a self-evaluation of its Open Access activities in the period between October 2013 and August 2015. In addition, it verified the researchers’ compliance with the SNSF guidelines.

Report on financial flows in Swiss scientific publishing

Funded jointly by the SNSF and swissuniversities in the context of the SUC P-2 programme, a study conducted by CEPA (Cambridge Economic Policy Associates Ltd) examined various scenarios for transitioning Switzerland’s scientific publication system to an Open Access system.
